Business Travel to Accra

Customer protection guarantee

Business travel to Accra has been on the incline over recent years. This is perhaps due to Ghana’s reputation as one of the fastest growing economies in Africa. Not to mention the capital Accra benefits from fantastic infrastructure and a multicultural environment. Add to that the fact that Ghana is a stable and peaceful political environment with a government heavily encouraging foreign investment and it becomes no surprise that Accra jumped to an impressive second position in our 2022 list of most booked destinations.

Our team are experts in business travel to Accra. Here they help round up the best accommodations in the city, airlines to get you there and how best to utilise any down time.

How to Get There

British Airways is the only airline to operate a direct route to Accra. This is via a single daily flight from London Heathrow. The flight duration is approximately six hours and forty minutes. Other popular options have included flying with either KLM or Brussels Airlines with a short stop at either Amsterdam or Brussels respectively. Whilst this can dramatically reduce costs compared to flying direct, it can double the journey time.

British Airways run a popular service with a business class product that was updated in 2019. It has since rolled out to a large proportion of the airline’s fleet. Explore the British Airways Club Suite here.

Where to Stay

Movenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra

The Movenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra is a luxury hotel located in the heart of Accra. It offers a variety of leisure facilities including a swimming pool, fitness centre, spa and two restaurants serving international and local cuisine. For business travellers, there are conference and meeting rooms, a business centre and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout. The hotel also boasts a convenient location near major corporate, diplomatic and government offices, making it an ideal choice for either leisure or business travellers.

Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City

Another luxury five-star accommodation in Accra to consider is the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City. The hotel features 269 elegant and spacious rooms and suites, many offering city views. Leisure facilities include a stylish outdoor pool, fitness centre and spa with a range of treatments on offer. Business travellers will enjoy a fully equipped business centre, conference centre and meeting rooms equipped with the latest technology. On-site dining options include the gourmet restaurant Papillon and Red Red Restaurant, a sushi bar.

Labadi Beach Hotel

Alternatively, the Labadi Beach Hotel boasts similar facilities but a coastline location and views. All 140 rooms and 24 suites are beautifully designed and complimented with modern facilities including air conditioning and high-speed internet access. There is a fitness centre, spa, kids zone and an outdoor swimming pool overlooking the ocean. Business facilities include, meeting rooms, a 24-hour business centre and a conference suite accommodating up to 500 delegates in theatre-style seating. Also on-site are multiple restaurants serving international cuisines from Italian to Asian.

What to do with your spare time in Accra

First and foremost, with the ocean at your doorstep, perhaps the best way to unwind after a long day of meetings is at Labadi Beach or any one of the adjacent beach clubs. We recommend either Sajuna Beach Club or the more secluded Bojo Beach Resort. However, if sand is more of a nightmare than a dream, how about Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, another popular spot for relaxing or swimming. Delve into some of the history of Accra with a stroll through the National Museum of Ghana. Another way to explore Ghana’s history is to explore Jamestown, the historical area of Accra full of colonial architecture.

For a slightly more off the beaten track Accra experience consider the Nima Market. This buzzing market is made up of a diverse mix of vendors and products. Alternatively, the W.E.B. Du Bois Museum dedicated to the life and legacy of famous scholar and activist would make for an interesting morning or afternoon.
