Asiana Airlines was founded in 1988 (originally as Seoul Airlines) and is one of South Korea’s two major airlines (along with Korean Air). It became a member of the Star Alliance in 2003.
Their headquarters is in Seoul and their international hub is at Incheon International Airport (ICN) just outside central Seoul.
• Asiana began scheduled services the week before the Korean government lifted restrictions on foreign travel on January 1, 1989. The pent-up demand was immense and the company was instantly successful.
