Introduction

Air New Zealand is the national flag carrier of New Zealand with a headquarters and global hub at Auckland Airport (AKL). It was founded in 1940 as Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL), then bought by the New Zealand government and re-named to Air New Zealand in 1965.

The airline joined the Star Alliance in 1999. It focuses its network routing on Australasia and the South Pacific, with long haul service to eastern Asia, the Americas, and the United Kingdom.

Air New Zealand services over 15 million passengers every year.
