Alitalia (a portmanteau of “wings” and “Italy”) is the national flag carrier of Italy with a headquarters in Fiumincino Rome and main hub at Leonardo da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport, Rome (FCO).  It was originally founded in 1947, and after several changes in name and ownership, went into administration in 2017. The Italian government is currently funding the airline while a suitable buyer is evaluated. The airline joined the SkyTeam alliance in 2001.

Frequent Flyer Program

Alitalia has a frequent flyer program called Milemiglia that rewards passengers on miles flown.  Their rewards are significantly better than other SkyTeam members and still include the rare round-the-world awards.

There are three levels:

Using our negotiated fares on this one flight YourTravel saved them £1,221.
