Introduction

Asiana Airlines was founded in 1988 (originally as Seoul Airlines) and is one of South Korea’s two major airlines (along with Korean Air). It became a member of the Star Alliance in 2003.

Their headquarters is in Seoul and their international hub is at Incheon International Airport (ICN) just outside central Seoul.

• Asiana began scheduled services the week before the Korean government lifted restrictions on foreign travel on January 1, 1989. The pent-up demand was immense and the company was instantly successful.



Frequent Flyer Program

Asiana Club (formerly Asiana Bonus Club) is the miles-based frequent flyer program for Asiana. They have a points transfer partner with SPG (Starwood Preferred Guest) which has recently merged with Marriott Rewards and as of August 2018 will become one unified program.

Codesharing

Asiana Airlines offers codesharing with 29 airlines both inside and outside the Star Alliance. Look for the designator code (OZ).
