Founded in 2003, Etihad Airways is the flag carrier and government owned airline of the United Arab Emirates. They have a global hub at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) where they connect over 100 passenger and cargo destinations across six continents with their a young fleet of 120 aircrafts.
They are not a member of a major global airline alliance, and instead established their own alliance call Etihad Airways Partners in 2015 that includes Jet Airways, Air Serbia, and Air Seychelles.
Etihad’s excellent products and service have earned it the title of “World’s Leading Airline” at the World Travel Awards every year since 2009. They were the fifth airline to receive a 5-star airline rating from Skytrax.
• Etihad translates as 'together' or 'join in one' which goes with the name of the country United Arab Emirates.
• The airlines features the world’s only 3-room suite in the sky with a shower and your own personal butler.
Etihad Guest is the frequent flyer program of Etihad Airways. It is a miles-based program with no blackout dates that actually allows you to convert your miles to cash if you so choose.
Despite them not being a member of a global alliance, you can convert your miles on a host of their partner networks as well. The only major downside is that your points expire after one year.
The program has four tiers:

• Chauffeur service when travelling in business or first class
• Guaranteed economy seats if booked 48 hours in advance
50,000 miles or 40 tier segments
• 50% bonus miles
• Business lounge access for the member and one guest
• Additional 15 kg of baggage
• Priority check-in, boarding, baggage handling, and custom clearance
• Guaranteed economy seats if booked 24 hours in advance, fast-tracked immigration
25,000 miles or 20 segments
• 75% bonus miles
• Additional 20 kg of baggage
• First class lounge access for the member and one guest
• First-class check-in
• Ability to nominate another member to gold status
• Guaranteed economy seats if booked 12 hours in advance
• Guaranteed business-class seat if booked 48 hours in advance
Etihad has codeshare agreements with 47 select airlines. Look for the designator code (EY).
When booking with a codesharing partner, you will experience differences in baggage fees, optional services, other charges, and policies from partner airlines on your trip.
