A look inside the brand-new Emirates Boeing 777 First Class cabin
Once again Emirates have pushed the envelope for what we think a flight experience should be. This time Emirates have decided to follow in the footsteps of the grand masters of interior design, Mercedes-Benz taking inspiration from their S-Class.
On the 12 Nov last year, Emirates revealed their plans to not refresh but completely re-invigorate their cabins on their Boeing 777 fleet. The most eagerly anticipated area of the reveal was the new First Class private suites and they do not disappoint!
If like me, you thought at a stage in travel where airlines now offer on-board massages, showers and a walk-up bar most thought that there is little more an airline could offer working with the limited space of an aircraft cabin. How wrong we were! This quite literally is ‘The Game Changer’!
Inside the cabin
The multi-million-dollar upgrade is across all cabins from First Class to Economy Class. Emirates have gone as far as upgrading the galleys, the walkways and the washrooms.
The First Class cabin offers:
A Generous 40 square foot of personal space
A fully enclosed private suite (with floor to ceiling sliding doors)
High tech controls
Mood lighting
Virtual windows
A personal mini-bar stocked with refreshments and snacks
A 32-inch full HD TV screen
A fully flat bed that can be placed into a ”zero gravity” position
Further extending their nod to Mercedes-Benz, they have even added the little touch of providing First Class customers a Mercedes S Class as part of their complimentary chauffeur-drive service.
As for the envelope pushing, Emirates have even thought about those customers sat in the middle of the cabin in First Class and have introduced the industry’s first virtual windows that project the view from outside the aircraft using real time camera technology. Passengers can easily talk to the cabin crew too, using the new video call feature. The suites even offer a window service where customers can receive food and drinks undisturbed.
This is a bold move by Emirates following customer feedback that whilst the A380 aircraft offered a fantastic First Class cabin. The 777’s were a little dated and underwhelming in comparison. With such an upgrade Emirates are looking to leap head and shoulders above their competition in First Class travel. I think they might have done just that with this upgraded cabin.
The first departure of the latest 777 has already taken place! The flight from Geneva to Brussels departed on 01 Dec 17. So, the next time you fly with Emirates you might just be lucky enough to experience…. The Game Changer!
