Air France’s La Premiere First Class is considered perhaps the most exclusive product in the skies. It is so exclusive that only a single row of four La Premiere First Class seats exist in it’s cabin. Those seats frequently sell out in four or five figure sums for a round-trip and they aren’t easy to access with mileage redemption or upgrading via points. If flying La Premiere is on your bucket list, your best bet is to contact your business travel expert here at Your Travel Corporate!
For those who know very little about why these seats are so raved about, read on to find out.
At The Airport
Your experience flying with Air France’s La Premiere First Class begins on the ground. You can expect an absolutely effortless airport experience without so much as lifting a finger! A personal chauffeur will take you and your things from the La Premiere check-in through to a completely private security lane and onwards to the La Premiere lounge. At point of boarding, you will be collected and driven in a luxurious car directly to the boarding gate. Upon arrival at your destination, the exact same on-ground experience will meet you. How’s that for a VIP experience?
The Air France La Premiere lounge in Paris is neither the largest or most extravagant first class lounge. However, it impresses in a perfectly subtle and chic French manner. The culinary experience in the lounge is perhaps what will wow the most, whether you indulge in the small buffet or the extensive a la carte menu curated by Alain Ducasse. Complimentary 30-minute relaxing facials at the Sisley branded spa are available. Pre-book this if you can! As impressive as the facial itself are the treatment rooms which look more like something found in a five-star hotel. La Premiere passengers are entitled to a 30-minute treatment which can be upgraded to an hour treatment for a fee.
The Air France La Premiere First Class Seat
Let’s dive right in and discuss the seat to bed transition. It is true that many would argue La Premiere is only worth the money on a daytime flight – to take advantage of the service, dining and amenities. However, the seat-to-bed conversion is considered the most comfortable (and one of the largest) in the sky. Upon conversion, the seat transforms into a massive 78-inch long and 30-inch wide bed. During the downturn service, a flight attendant will top it with an inch thick memory foam mattress topper. Add to that a plush pillow and crisp duvet and you’ll have no trouble falling asleep once your privacy curtain is drawn.
The privacy curtain deserves its own mention. Other airlines may have moved towards privacy doors in their first and business class products, however the Air France La Premiere seat curtains still provide exceptional privacy. They are floor-to-ceiling and seal at the entrance with three magnets. The draping fabric, in our opinion, adds an extra air of celebrity elegance to your experience.
Onboard, the culinary encounter is just as impressive as it was in the airport lounge. Courses of caviar and champagne, sides of bread and your chosen a la carte menu are all presented as if in a Michelin-starred restaurant. Delivered covered with a cloche too, very fancy and decidedly first class.
With just four first class seats yet two specially trained first-class attendants, the service could not be more attentive. Those travelling in La Premiere refer to the service as ‘polished’ and state that the call button is regularly answered within 10 seconds.
Should you have work to complete onboard, dive right into free unlimited WiFi. Even add a second device and connect both your phone and laptop. A sturdy pull-out table from your long sideboard of storage enables you to work comfortably at your seat.
