We have all been in the situation where we are stuck in an airport with a lot more time to spare than anticipated. Delayed or cancelled flights and missed connections can be stressful, annoying, and downright boring!
Even if you are not in a glamorous airport with a butterfly garden (Singapore’s Changi International), 150 square foot yoga studio (San Francisco International), or delicious German beer garden (Munich International) – there’s plenty to do to pass the time.
Here are 5 tips to make time move faster while you wait:
Spoil Yourself
You can buy your way into most lounges for £50-£100. Get in touch to buy ahead and escape to an oasis while you wait. Most airports also have day spa and massage services where you can get pampered with facials, mani-pedis, back or foot massages at your leisure.
Day-Trip to the City
If you have a longer layover between flights, it might be worth it to take advantage of rapid transit and head into the city to do some sight-seeing and enjoy a great meal. The only caveat is to make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get back to the airport and go through security again.
Utilise the WiFi
Airports generally have free WiFi for at least 30-60 minutes without surcharges, so take advantage of it to get some work done, watch a movie, or dig deep into the group chat and forget about your surroundings for a while.
Exercise
The easiest way to accomplish this is to simply take a walk. Make it your goal to do the whole terminal end to end, or hit a new step record as your browse the shops and restaurants. Some airports have exercise facilities free of charge that you can drop-in and break a sweat at as well.
People Watch
Some of the best free entertainment is available to you at any given moment at the airport. People from all walks of life gather in the pursuit of travel for a brief moment, so take it all in and you never know what you might see and hear.
