Airport parking can often be a burden, but one innovative company are hoping to change this perception. Stanley Robotics, a French start-up born in 2015, have created ‘Stan’ the robot that aids airport parking.
The concept enables drivers to pull up to the entrance of the car park and drive into a ‘cabin’. You remove your baggage, lock up and even take your keys away with you! Your airport parking confirms on verification of your flight and only takes a few clicks. When confirmed, the cabin secures your car and you can make your way to the airport.
Stan arrives at the entrance to move your car from the cabin and safely transport it to it’s allocated spot for the duration of your trip. Stan works autonomously with the cabin to retrieve your vehicle. It slides underneath your vehicle and uses ‘arms’ to gently lift the car by it’s tires. Aside from the entrance with the cabins, the car park is a robot-only area, limiting the risk of driver damage or break-ins. Due to the fact your parking directly links to your flight itinerary, Stan will have your car back in a cabin at the car park entrance exactly as you return.
Airports using Stan have reported up to a 50% increase in spaces over the same surface area. This is thanks to Stan’s automated parking and intelligent management software, ensuring a more pragmatic use of space. As well as this, the all-electric fleet of Stan robots are helping airports to reduce their emissions.
Stan has now helped 1,000’s with airport parking at Charles De Gaulle, Lyon and Gatwick. Watch this space!
